The Band of Adventurers
"What was wonderful about childhood is that anything in it was a wonder. It was not merely a world full of miracles, it was a miraculous world. " G.K. Chesterton
You probably won’t be able to find them, but as you read this a group of little ones are expanding their fort, and they’re eager to test themselves. They have already found all the best sticks the forest has to offer, one is building a moat, the others are securing the walls, the last one is the lookout of course.
With each passing hour their plans become more extravagant. At first they were going to hunt a troll, but they all knew trolls are dangerous so they had to train. They trained until they’d mastered the art of troll fighting, but then a troll hunt seemed too easy and they know that real adventurers never pick a quest that is easy.
Then trained to battle goblins and wizards and even a family of ogres. They’ve just now started getting ready to slay a dragon and they’ll soon realise how capable they are. If you thought their plans for adventure were something, just wait until you hear the ideas they have once the dragon’s treasure goes to their heads.
If you can manage to find them, they’ll ask you to join their crew. Dragon slaying is hard work and every adventurer knows not to refuse help. Tell them you need training and they’ll be sure to help you. If you really focus on your training they’ll remind you that magic is real and so are dragons, but only if you’re brave enough for adventure.
